- Authors
KAMPMARK, BINOY
- Abstract
The article discusses the use of animals in espionage throughout history. It mentions examples such as the CIA's failed "Project Acoustic Kitty" in the 1960s and the significant role of pigeons in both World Wars. The article also recounts a recent incident in which a pigeon was detained in India on suspicion of being a spy, but it was later discovered that the bird had escaped from Taiwan where it had been a racing pigeon. The article highlights the subcontinental obsession with pigeon espionage and mentions a case in which people were apprehended in India with pigeons carrying magnetic rings. The article concludes by questioning the validity of considering pigeons as spies and mentions an incident in which a pigeon was "arrested" by India's border security force for allegedly spying for Pakistan.
