- Title
Fight on the Right: Anti-War Hungary Versus a Bellicose EU.
- Authors
OTTENBERG, EVE
- Abstract
This article discusses the conflict between Hungary and the European Union (EU) over the Ukraine War. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is considered a right-wing authoritarian, has taken a stance against the war, which goes against the EU's support for the conflict. The EU threatened to tank Hungary's economy if it vetoed the proposed $50 billion for Ukraine, leading Orban to back down. The article criticizes the EU's tactics and argues that the situation highlights the EU's authoritarianism and its imposition of its projects on member states.
