- Title
Topological insulators: Crystalline protection.
- Authors
Fiete, Gregory A.
- Abstract
The article focuses on topological insulators (TIs) whose topological invariant and conducting boundary state originate from the symmetry of the crystal lattice. It mentions that the structure of the electronic wave function moving through momentum space is described by topological invariant and the translational crystal symmetry describes the concept of crystal momentum. It states that TIs property originates from a strong spin-orbit coupling and protected by time-reversal symmetry.
