- Abstract
The article profiles 2011 Brown-Hudson Folklore Award winner, singer, and record-label and record-shop owner David Lee. It notes that songwriter Lee was born on May 3, 1936 in Shelby and recorded his first song "I'm Going to Keep on Trying" in the late 1950's in which he expressed the romantic heartbreak and repeated rejections from the music industry.
