- Title
Rhythms, Poetic and Political: The Case of Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
- Authors
Levine, Caroline
- Abstract
The article discusses the poems of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, particularly focusing on the political aspects of prosody, which the author refers to as the "expressive model." The author expresses the belief that literary forms restrict poetry, thereby making it political in nature. Browning's 1837 poems "The Young Queen," "Victoria's Tears," and "Crowned and Wedded" were all written for the British Queen Victoria and they are here analyzed.
