- Abstract
This article discusses how the rise in students diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism, and the increase in the numbers of students with Asperger's syndrome who are applying for college admission have led to the creation of teaching strategies to teach such students social skills and academic strategies. The article notes that the Center for Students With Disabilities at the University of Connecticut has developed a course for first-year students with Asperger's syndrome that is designed to present them with the skills necessary to cope with their new environments.
