- Title
The developmental stress hypothesis: a special case of the evolution of condition-dependent sexual traits.
- Authors
Buchanan, Katherine L.
- Abstract
The author discusses how developmental stress hypothesis is compared with the evolution of condition-dependent sexual traits. According to her, the developmental stress hypothesis was proposed as a special case due to its mechanism. She states that some aspect of the hypothesis is that the mechanism can be defined and effects can be tested. K. A. Spencer and S. A. MacDougall-Shackleton made a comparison on the study of fluctuating asymmetry (FA) which has been considered as indicator of developmental stress.
