- Authors
Calpin, Carolyn
- Abstract
The article focuses on the training methods of Johnny C. Miles who was a successful marathon runner from 1926 to 1935. Miles was a two-time winner of the Boston Marathon in 1926 and 1929. His entry into running was a family affair; his father, a former World War veteran and amateur boxer served as his coach and financial backer. Johnny Miles was unusual, as most competitive athletes of his era tended to be wealthy.
