Syntheses, Structures and Properties of Lanthanide Organic Frameworks incorporating 1 H-benzimidazole-2-carboxylic Acid.

- Abstract
A family of new lanthanide compounds [Ln(HBIC)3] n [Ln = Ce ( 1), Dy ( 2), Er ( 3); H2BIC = 1 H-benzimidazole-2-carboxylic acid] was obtained under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, X-ray single crystal diffraction, thermal and luminescent analyses. X-ray single crystal diffraction shows that compounds 1- 3 are isotypic and exhibit 2D networks constructed by bridging-chelating HBIC- linkers and lanthanide ion nodes, in which each central lanthanide atom is surrounded by five flexible HBIC- ligands with two kinds of new coordination modes, yielding a distorted two-capped triangle prism arrangement. Moreover, the thermal and photoluminescence properties of 1- 3 were also investigated.
