Abstract
The article reports that China has surpassed the U.S. in becoming the world's leading exporter of information and communications technology (ICT) tools, such as mobile phones, laptop computers and digital cameras. China's share of total world trade in ICT goods, including both imports and exports increased to $329 billion in 1996. According to the data, ICT imports to Asia from the European Union and the U.S. has declined.
