- Abstract
The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the epistle written by Abu Said b. Abi al-Hasan Yasar al-Basir to 'Abd al-Malik in an attempt to more accurately understand the theological views supported in the text. Topics include the authenticity of the epistle based on its contents, the main arguments of the letter, and the relation between freewill, qadar, and kasb in the epistle. It also discusses Hasan al-Basri's position on the role of human free will with relation to qadar.
