- Title
"THE HAND OF MYSTICISM.".
- Authors
Nurhussein, Nadia
- Abstract
The article explores Ethiopianist writings in Pauline Hopkins "Of One Blood: Or, the Hidden Self" and the "Colored American Magazine." The magazine's depiction of Ethiopianism is said to present a more grounded Ethiopia in secular contemporary events. But the clash of the history and fiction genres dismantled the coherence of the symbolic value of Ethiopia, the author claims. "Of One Blood," on the other hand, offers a good example of a fictional Ethiopianist text that introduces the mysticism and ethnographic texts the magazine avoids, the author adds.
