The article focuses on the use of land banking, a land management technique, as a redevelopment tool for communities in the U.S. It is given that land banking is used by local governments to purchase tax-delinquent properties which are then banked for future use. It is given that most states in the U.S. do not have statutory land banking authority beyond the general power of municipalities to acquire land for public purposes.
