- Abstract
The article focuses on the need for further training of teachers of Romance languages in Germany and Austria in the area of language assessment literacy (LAL). Topics include how LAL changes in the way student performance is evaluated, from traditional error-counting methods to differentiated, competency-based approaches; and the importance of teachers having a strong theoretical and practical foundation in order to make informed and fair assessments of their students' language proficiency.
