In this article, the author discusses the contribution of Edmund S. Muskie, former U.S. Senator from Maine, in shaping the environmental laws of the U.S. Topics discussed include his environmental accomplishments such as U.S. Clean Air Act of 1970 and the Clean Water Act of 1972, as a Governor of Maine he called the legislation to address water pollution and his commitment to serve the public interest such as protecting the health and welfare of individuals.
