- Abstract
Introduction: To enable proper functioning in family, social, and professional life, people who suffer from IBD should accept the issue of disease prevalence. The high level of knowledge of one's disease makes it easier to accept the fact of having this kind of affliction. The main role is played by the medical personnel, who should prepare the patient for daily life as much as possible, allowing them to be independent in self-dealing with this disease. Aim of the study: The goal was to analyse the influence of medical personnel on the process of acceptance the disease. Material and methods: The test was conducted on a group of 100 people who were older than 18 years. Data was analysed using Pearson X² non-parametric tests. Results: The education and positive attitude of medical personnel have an unusual influence on IBD acceptation. Conclusions: To provide better medical care for patients with IBD and to make it easier for them to accept the disease, medical personnel must draw attention to the means of explaining people's doubts relevant to the disease because, as the research shows, they tend to use overly specialised language, resulting in a lack of understanding of information by the patient, which results in a negative adaptation to disease.
