- Abstract
Phytobiotics were introduced to poultry industries for enhancement of immunity and growth performance. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of propolis and ginger aqueous extract on body weight gain and immunerelated organ weight. 100 one day old chicks were allocated into five groups, control, ginger-treated, propolis-treated, ginger/propolis-treated, and vaccinated untreated groups for 35 days. At the end of experiment, the body weight and immune-related organ weight were recorded. The result showed that the treated groups with ginger, propolis, and ginger/propolis non significantly increased the body weight and the weight of spleen and thymus gland alongside with nonsignificant decrease in the bursa of fabricius weight. This study concluded that ginger and propolis could be considered as growth promoter used for enhancement of growth in broiler chickens.
