- Abstract
Introduction: Complicated crown fractures are a rare type of fracture among dental injuries. Treatment options are depending on the level of the fracture line, amount of tooth tissue remaining, the pulpal conditions, amount of tooth spread, the remaining tooth structure and aesthetic expectation. In this case report, total amputation treatment, reatachment of the fracture and 18-month follow-up of the traumatized injury resulting from the detachment of the dental crown into two labio-lingual directions are reported. Case Report: A 9-year-old boy came to our clinic with traumatic tooth. The dental crown was divided into two parts in the vertical direction. Radiographic examination showed that periapical tissues were healty. In clinical examination, it was established that the fracture in the labial fragment ended just below gingival level and the pulp was exposed. After surgical removal of the fracture, bleeding control was performed with sodium hypochlorite and then the pulp was covered with biodentine. After CIS application reatachment of the tooth parts with composite resin were performed. The follow-up visits at 1, 3, 6,12 and 18 months were performed regularly, no clinical and radiological symptoms and the root development was observed. Conclusion: In this case, total amputation was applied to the right central incisor with open apices, and the vitality of the tooth was maintained and the dentin walls thickened by continuing root development were observed. The restoration was completed by reatachment of the tooth's own part. Reattachment with technological developments in adhesive systems and composites is an aesthetic, economic and conservative treatment procedure.
