- Abstract
The main objective of the article is to offer an analysis from the origin to the present day of the work carried out by the convicts deprived of liberty aimed at the redemption of the sentence and its re-socialization, the ultimate goal of the prison sentence. The methodology is documentary and aims, through the consultation of reports, doctrine, regulations and jurisprudence, to collect information on the subject that supports the article for an approach to the object of study. Among the findings found, working as a redemption sentence achieves 100% of its objective, while facing resocialization is a failure. It is concluded that since work is a right of the entire condemned population, everyone agrees to the redemption of sentence, but not to re-socialization.
