- Title
BUILDING AND ORNAMENTAL STONES OF ST DAVIDS CATHEDRAL.
- Authors
Elis-Gruffydd, Dyfed
- Abstract
The article discusses the diverse range of building and ornamental stones used in the construction of Wales's St. Davids Cathedral, challenging previous assertions that it was primarily constructed from local sandstone. Topics discussed include the prevalence of Precambrian volcanic tuffs and agglomerates, the incorporation of glacial erratics such as gabbro and dolerite, and the introduction of Forest and Hollington stones during twentieth-century renovations.
