- Abstract
Part 1 begins with a chapter in which the editors (Bolton, Botha, and Kirkpatrick) set the theoretical scene for the handbook, mainly by introducing Braj Kachru's ([9], [10]) Three Circles Model. Bolton, Kingsley Botha, Werner Kirkpatrick, Andy eds 2020 The Handbook of Asian Englishes Hoboken Wiley Blackwell xvii + 909 USD 204.95 978-1-1187-9180-6 (print) Nearly twenty-five years ago, [11] argued that English is not just a language B in b Asia but also B of b Asia, which has been corroborated by other researchers since then ([17]; [14]). The following three chapters present language policies and planning in the region from a general perspective including status and corpus planning (Kirkpatrick and Liddicoat) and relating to education in schools (Low) and universities (Bolton and Botha).
