- Abstract
The article examines the recognition of Beet western yellows virus on sugarbeet and lettuce for the first time in China. According to the report, Beet yellows virus was previously regarded as a viral agent on sugar beet's yellowing disease in China. In a September 2006 survey, it was indicated that the incidence of diseased sugar beet experiencing yellowing symptoms ranged from 5% to 30%. Other symptoms observed included yellowing, developing mostly in the interveinal tissue of old- and middle-ages leaves. The author also suggests that samples of diseased lettuces were also collected from Beijing.
