- Abstract
The article discusses the significance of faculty diversity in higher education in the U.S. It highlights the report from the National Center for Education Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau which depict the number of women and underrepresented minorities (URMs) in the country's university faculties. It explores the result of the survey conducted at five institutions which aims to examine their state of faculty diversity and identify the strategies employed to achieve better faculty diversity. It suggests ways on how higher education institutions can attain faculty diversity in the American professoriate.
