Prairie View A&M Students Walk the Walk of Political Engagement.
- Authors
Server, Ronald D.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the demonstration done by students of Prairie View A&M University against the officials of Waller County, Texas. The dispute centered on the plan of county officials to have only one early voting polling place at the county courthouse, which is about seven miles from the university, to accommodate all the county's residents. Student leaders stated that the plan will hinder students from exercising their constitutional right to vote. The decision of the commissioner's court has led student political activists in Prairie View to file complaints against the county's officials for voting suppression. A brief history of student voting dispute in Waller County is also presented.
