- Abstract
The article discusses efforts by companies to combat the counterfeiting of their goods. Zippo Manufacturing Company estimates it may lose up to $40 million per year in revenue to counterfeiters. Zippo spends $2 million annually to protect its intellectual property. Henkel KGaA maintains a group of 30 individuals who work to protect the company's 750 brands. Bayer HealthCare AG has adopted a variety of measures including the use of investigators, and prosecution of suspected counterfeiters. Many firms consider China to be the largest source of counterfeit goods.
