- Title
Japanese Companies Bracing for 'J-SOX'
- Authors
Marshall, Jeffrey
- Abstract
This article reports on the implementation of "J-Sox," the Japanese legislation passed in 2007 that conforms in large measure to the tenants of the American Sarbanes-Oaxley Act for internal audits. Some 3800 listed Japanese countries will be required to have internal control processes in place by the fiscal year beginning in 2008. The global consulting company BearingPoint's Risk, Compliance and Security practice is quoted on the "Enron-like incidents" that led Japanese regulators to improve controls on financial reporting. It is expected that other Asian markets like China and India will soon be developing such rules as well.
