- Abstract
This document is an editorial introducing a special issue of the journal Axioms titled "Mathematical Methods in Applied Sciences." The issue contains 17 articles that cover a range of mathematical methods and emerging trends in applied sciences. The objective of the special issue is to provide a platform for scientists and researchers to showcase their work and enhance our understanding of the world. The articles in the issue explore various mathematical solutions and applications in fields such as optimization, control theory, biomathematics, population dynamics, network problems, and machine learning. Three specific contributions are highlighted: one on surface quality in wooden product manufacturing, one on the generation of density functions from moments of the standard normal distribution, and one on biomedical image reconstruction using functional near infra-red spectroscopy (fNIRs).
