- Abstract
In this article the author comments on the significance of the Pakistani region of Waziristan to Afghanistan and the Afghan conflict. The author notes that Waziristan, in western Pakistan, has become a refuge for a number of elements including Taliban guerrillas, terrorists with the al-Qaeda organization, and disaffected members of the Pakistani military. A number of topics are addressed including the experience of British armed forces in Waziristan, the pursuit of terror leader Osama Bin Laden, and importance of control of the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
