A Marquesan coral reef (French Polynesia) in historical context: an integrated socio-ecological approach.
- Authors
Aswani, Shankar; Allen, Melinda S.
- Abstract
The article presents a research on the anthropogenic impact of the interaction of humans and features the largest reefs in Marquesas Islands at Anaho Bay, Nuka Hiva Island. The research shows that the reef is in the state of decline, while fish densities are moderately high. Moreover, the archaeological study suggests that the landscape change, both natural and human induced may have been detrimental to reef health.
