- Abstract
Investigates causal factors associated with seed dormancy and the stimulation of germination after exposure to smoke in Emmenanthe penduliflora--of the Hydrophyllaceae family, a chaparral fire-recruiter. Chemical scarification at the seed coat surface; Alteration of the permeability of the internal cuticle; Hypothesis that smoke exerts a surfactant-like reaction.
