- Title
Quand une pensée vivante devient scolaire: l'exégèse origénienne du θάνατος relue par Didyme.
- Authors
Danezan, Meredith
- Abstract
Based on a comparison between Origen and Didymus on a specific matter, "death", and the interpretation of its Biblical occurrences, this article aims to demonstrate how Alexandrian hermeneutics consisting in distinguishing the various meanings of a same term -- here θάνατος -- has crystallized in Didymus' work in a more rigid and repetitive form, particularly with regard to the terminology. This lexical perspective makes it possible to recognize Didymus in traditions which transmit his exegesis anonymously, namely the exegetical catenae. Indeed, where the scholarly tradition has often mistaken Didymus for Origen, the lexical tool leads to reassess to Didymus two fragments previously assigned to Origen.
