- Abstract
The article presents a speech by Roger R. Trask Award recipient Pete Daniel which was delivered at the U.S. Society for History in the Federal Government's (SFHG's) annual conference at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland on April 4, 2013. The author's experiences in the academic world and as a curator at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History are addressed, along with former U.S. Senator Robert B. Morgan. U.S. Supreme Court cases involving peonage are also examined.
