- Abstract
The article discusses the interest in parthenogenesis, or virgin birth, among lesbian feminists and separatists in the United States in the latter 20th century. The implications of parthenogenesis for lesbian culture and the possibility of creating sustainable all-female communities are discussed, as is the question of whether woman-only reproduction is a biological possibility. The development of lesbian separatist communities in the U.S. is also discussed, as are the writings on parthenogenesis in the lesbian newsletter "Daughter Visions."
