- Abstract
The article presents the discovery of the remains of a black falcon Falco (F.) subniger wing among the remains of Australian ravens Corvus coronoides that were prey to a peregrine falcon F. peregrinus in December 2006 near Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT). A comparison between the black falcon and the peregrine falcon is provided along with the usual prey for the latter. The discovery and identification of the black falcon remains are described along with the possible scenario of its falling prey to the peregrine falcon. Records of large, dangerous prey taken in the ACT area are cited including a Kestrel in 2006 and a long-tailed jaeger Stercorarius longicaudus in 1994.
