- Abstract
The article profiles Henry Wartenberg, the third counsellor of the first women's charitable organization of Los Angeles, California called the Ladies' Hebrew Benevolent Society of Los Angeles which was established in January 1870. It explores how Wartenberg developed and created significant changes in the Society after being elected as president in July 1864. It also states that Wartenberg died on February 16, 1879 and is considered as one of the outstanding Jewish leaders and city builders of Los Angeles.
