- Authors
Scafidi, Catina M.; Curatola, Anthony P.
- Abstract
The article discusses new energy-efficient appliances resulting from the U.S. Energy Tax Incentives Act of 2005 (ETIA). The Act gives business credit and tax deductions to companies that construct new homes using alternative energy sources and incorporation of energy-efficient property. Some of those being used include dishwashers, clothes washers, and refrigerators. The appliance credit is calculated separately for each type of appliance that is produced between December 31, 2005 and January 1, 2008. To be eligible, appliances must meet the standards required by the Energy Star program. The law does state, however, that taxpayers may not claim over $75 million for all taxable years.
