- Abstract
The article discusses the design and synthesis of a novel aromatic analogue and its potential as a label for the structural analysis of peptides by fluorine-19 nuclear magnetic resonance (19F NMR) spectroscopy. The incorporation of the analogue trifluoromethyl-substituted α-amino acid cis-1-amino-3-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-cyclobutanecarboxylic acid (cis-9) into the peptide Magainin 2 is tackled. The analogue is said to be a suitable replacement for phenylalanine.
