- Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to defend that the biblical codex in French Bible du XIIIème siècle (Bern, Burgerbibliothek, code 28) was produced in the workshop led by Master Ramón in Vic (Catalonia). Its attribution to this workshop is essentially based on the close stylistic similarities between the miniatures of the Biblia Sacra of Vic, in which this artist inscribed his name, geographical origin and date of 1268. The stylistic parallels extend to a second Manuscript, a Biblia Latina (Santa Barbara Library, ms. BS75 1297), which was also attributed to the workshop of Master Ramón. Since this master comes from the French Midi, the historical evidence is put forward in favour of the hypothesis that the three codices were drawn up on Catalan soil for recipients of this territory. Finally, other testimonies are presented that support the hypothesis that the Bible du XIIIème siècle (Bern, Burgerbibliothek, code 28) belonged to successive monarchs of the Crown of Aragon in the late thirteenth century.
