- Abstract
This scoping review explores the use of e-learning in transfusion medicine (TM) education. The review highlights the advantages of e-learning programs, such as their ability to reach a large audience, reduce costs, adapt to new developments, and provide feedback through analytics. The review focuses on the challenges of TM education, the different formats of e-learning, and the need for education across various healthcare professionals. The authors conducted a comprehensive search of electronic databases and included 26 studies from 14 countries in their analysis. The article provides a summary of the characteristics of the included studies and their e-learning programs. The studies covered various levels of education, targeted different types of learners, and utilized different interventions and evaluation methods. The article emphasizes the need for further research on the impact of e-learning on knowledge retention, practice transformation, and patient outcomes, as well as the standardization of reporting and assessment methods in e-learning studies.
