- Abstract
The article outlines a cognitive psychological model for information literacy instruction for facilitating student retention and transfer of information literacy skills. It discusses the principles for structuring information literacy instruction that include creation of problem context, limiting the amount of content delivered in a single classroom session, building a narrative of insights for improving pedagogy, focusing on deep knowledge, and active learning.
