- Abstract
The article discusses the historiography of English histories of the French Reformation since 1970. It describes historical interpretations and paradigms of the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre, the persecution of female Huguenots, popular religion, and the influence of Protestant reformer John Calvin. Other subjects under discussion include the work of historians Natalie Zemon Davis, Robert M. Kingdon, and John Bossy, the consequences of the Reformation on women and families, and reinterpretations of the French Wars of Religion.
