- Abstract
An essay is presented that offers poetry criticism of an untitled poem by rabbi Leon Modena, along with a translation of the poem. It addresses the relation of the poem to Jewish life in Renaissance Venice, the inclusion of multiple courses in a banquet meal, and the use of Italian names for dishes and Hebrew poetry. The essay discusses the relation of eating to social class.
