- Abstract
This article reports on the first occurrence of leaf spot disease caused by Penicillium crocicola on Ficus maclellandii plants in Iran. The symptoms of the disease include necrotic spots on the leaves, which gradually turn brown with a yellowish border. The fungal isolates were recovered from the infected tissues and identified based on morphological and molecular characteristics. Pathogenicity tests confirmed that P. crocicola is the causal agent of the leaf spot disease. This is the first report of P. crocicola as a plant pathogen, highlighting its potential as a pathogen for F. maclellandii.
