- Abstract
The article reports on an air conditioning system based on the enzyme called lactoperoxidase being developed by scientists at British firm Rigest. The company's air conditioning system is equipped with hypothiocyanite anion (OSCN) which attacks sulphydryl groups on the outer protein coating of microbes to kill them. The system can also be applied in semiconductor clean rooms and hospital sick bays. The company's tests show that OSCN anions are effective against a range of bacteria including legionella.
