- Title
Blanchot and Ambiguity.
- Authors
BARTOLONI, Paolo
- Abstract
The article examines the ambiguity of French philosopher Maurice Blanchot's statement about the end of history, "existence without Being," contained in his essay "Literature and the Right to Death." The author endeavors to place Blanchot's phrase contextually within a discussion begun by Russian-born French philosopher Alexandre Kojevè. The author also focuses on the end of Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni's film "The Eclipse" as a simultaneous example of Blanchot's theory and contribution to Antonioni studies.
