- Abstract
The article presents a study which aims to determine if any of the proteins in the silk of the caddisfly (Stenopsyche marmorata) have features similar to other aquatic silk. It says that the study involved Stenopsyche marmorata larvae from Nagano, Japan and the physical structure of the silk was observed with a Differential Interference Contrast Microscope. Results show that the silk contains cysteine, about 13.97%, whose repetitive sequence is common to many known underwater adhesive proteins.
