- Title
The Curating Child: Runaways and Museums in Children's Fiction.
- Authors
Zimmerman, Virginia
- Abstract
The article focuses on the roles played by museums in children's books such as "The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler," by E. L. Konigsburg and "Wonderstruck," by Brian Selznick. It explores the protagonists in both books which take up residence in a museum, considering the unusual selection of settings and how the museum is used to bring a sense of history to the continuity and significance of the protagonists and as a metaphor for children's coming to terms with their pasts.
