- Abstract
Presents a review of the original rationale for the line-of-business restrictions faced by the regional Bell operating companies (RBOC) in the United States telecommunications industry. Reduced incentives for local exchange carriers to shift costs from unregulated to regulated businesses; Suggestion that eliminating the remaining restrictions is not likely to raise significant competitive concerns in the industry.
