- Abstract
The article discusses the shifts in urban ecology and the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to address contemporary urban issues. The field of urban ecology has expanded to include perspectives from various disciplines such as urban studies, sociology, geography, and urban planning. This expansion has allowed for the exploration of complex dynamics in urban ecosystems and the consideration of issues such as justice, accessibility, and equality. The article presents several guiding research questions to deepen the understanding of these shifts and improve the contribution of urban ecology to society. The objective of the article is to identify and explore the key shifts in urban ecology and promote a more just and transformative knowledge paradigm for urban systems in the Anthropocene.
