- Abstract
The article presents approaches of teaching algebra to students in Australia and in New Zealand, highlights the use of meaningful contexts in teaching pronumerals. It highlights several aspects of pronumerals including generalised numbers, variables, and unknowns. An overview of pronumeral, which is used to describe a letter symbol used in elementary algebra, is provided.
